New to Medical Aesthetics? Here's what you need to know!
Your skin is the largest organ in your body so it’s important to be careful when choosing who to work with. As more and more people break into the industry, it’s imperative you trust the person who’s working on your skin so you can ensure you’re always looking your best.
Are you considering your first foray into Medical Aesthetics? Here are some of the things you should look out for when hiring a Medical Aesthetician:
What does the space look like?
The cleanliness of their facility is of the utmost importance. If their space isn’t clean, chances are, their tools aren’t clean either. I suggest taking a look online to see if they have photos of their spa or better yet, pop by before you book an appointment!
Are they qualified?
Do your research. Take a look to see if they’ve listed their qualifications, certifications, and educational background. If not, ask to see certificates or diplomas when you go in for a consultation. If they don’t have their qualifications handy, there’s a chance they don’t have them at all.
Added tip: Ask them if they have insurance as well!
Clearly state what you’re looking for.
Be sure to ask questions and discuss candidly your concerns and expectations. There’s nothing wrong with setting standards and letting your aesthetician know what you expect from their services. Not only will it give them a good idea of where you’re at but you’ll also be able to see if they can meet those standards.
What is their skin care philosophy?
Ask them about their thoughts on skin care, their approach to treatments and what kind of products their recommending to their clients. Make sure that their philosophy is sound, their expectations for treatments align with yours and that they have a variety of medical-grade skin care lines they can recommend!
Are they knowledgeable?
When discussing treatments and services, do they know what they’re talking about? Are they able to explain why they would perform certain treatments or do they seem unsure? If they can’t explain why they’re recommending a certain service that’s a sign to tread lightly.
Do they have before and after photos?
The whole point of coming in for a service is to improve the look of your skin. Do they have photos that clearly showcase the results they’re able to provide? If they’re heavily using stock photos on their social platforms and website, this is a red flag. A couple stock photos are fine if they’re there to improve the design of their website but if they’re being used in a way that looks like before and afters, you need to run.
What does their online presence look like?
Do they have a website? It’s one thing to be active on social media but that shouldn’t be the only place to find them. A website is a great tool for making sure they are who they say they are and that their business is actually legitimate.
Added tip: Take a look at their Google reviews or testimonials and see what other clients are saying about them!
At the end of the day, if you’re going to trust someone with your face, make sure they know what they’re doing! Believe me, you don’t want to gamble when it comes to your skin.
