Do You Practice Self-Care?
As things start opening up and we get back to the grind of “normal” life, it’s important to remember to put yourself first. While we may be excited to be out and about again, it can also be overwhelming for some. Incorporating a few self-care practices can be a great way to take a break and show yourself some love!
IS THIS KIND OF PRACTICE NEW TO YOU? HERE ARE SIX SELF-CARE SUGGESTIONS THAT WE LOVE TO HELP GET YOU STARTED:
1. Move your body
Taking care of your physical health is crucial to feeling good in your body. Not only does it help you build a better mind-body connection, it also keeps you healthy. Whether it’s yoga, going for a bike ride or taking a leisurely walk, be sure to get up and move every day!
2. Unplug for the day
For most of us, we’ve spent the last year and a half tied to our phones and computers. Give yourself a break and step away from the news cycle by unplugging for the day. Trust us, it can wait until tomorrow.
3. Declutter your space
Have you been feeling overwhelmed or anxious lately? Try taking a look around your home. Is the space cluttered or messy? Believe it or not, a cluttered space can make for a cluttered mind. Do yourself a favour and try tidying up your space. We promise it will make a big difference in your mental clarity!
4. Take a nap
When in doubt, rest. If you’re feeling burnt out or just totally wiped, give yourself the permission to kick up your feet and recharge. Relaxation is a right, not something that needs to be earned!
5. Treat yourself
Whether that’s some chocolate or a glass of wine (or both, we’re not judging), go get yourself something sweet! Not all self-care practices have to be about meditation or yoga. Sometimes you just need that special treat to turn your day around!
6. Visit a friend or two
Lastly, go see a friend you love hanging out with and do something fun! Because nothing beats good times and big belly laughs with the people you love most. Especially when we haven’t been able to see each other!
No matter what you decide, it’s important to put your interests first. Self-care practices are not one-size-fits-all so be sure to choose things that you enjoy doing to get maximum benefits!
