IT TRULY IS A GIFT AS TO WHY I’M HERE TODAY. LET ME EXPLAIN.
Back when I worked as a server in a fine dining restaurant on Main Street in Unionville, ON I had a couple who came in every Friday night. They would always sit at the same table and order the same carafe of wine and off the menu dishes. Since this particular table was always in my section on Friday nights, we got to chatting. We would share what we had been up to that week, things we were looking forward to and the like. Needless to say, we got to know one another pretty well!
On one particular evening, I shared that I no longer wanted to be chef after having come back from a trip out to BC. You see, during my trip, I was at a photoshoot and someone loved the way I did my makeup and asked if I was an aesthetician. Honestly, I had no idea what that even was but I was intrigued. After doing some research after the shoot I realized this was something I wanted to pursue.
However, at that time, being in my early 20's and living on my own, I barely had enough to make it by. Let alone afford going back to school. I shared my new dream with this couple and with both of them being really big into education, encouraged me not to give up!
HERE’S WHERE THINGS GET INTERESTING…
When I went into work the next day my boss handed me an envelope. In it was some money and a card that read:
"We are huge believers in education and have been fortunate in our life. We would like to help you get the education for your future career. Here’s something to help get you started!"
I. WAS. FLOORED.
So many emotions went through me at once I didn’t know what to think! This generous donation was entirely unexpected and something I didn’t expect would happen to me!
Over the years I’ve lost contact with them and it is something that has tugged on me to do, is find them. Hopefully one day I will because I wouldn't be where I am today if it wasn't for their kindness and generosity.
This year will mark over 21 years in the industry for me and we’re just getting started! With a brand new website recently launched and a new location on the horizon, the sky’s the limit for Bare Ur Beauty. I can’t wait to see where this journey leads me and share it all with you.
