Creating Your Perfect Skincare Routine

We believe that behind every flawless complexion, is the right skincare routine.

The thing about skin care is that each and every routine is so personalized. What works for you may or may not work for others, and that is totally okay. In fact, we anticipate it! The health, appearance and concern of your skin is unique to you. It can take months, if not years, to discover the perfect skincare routine for you. Cue the role of your aesthetician. We will find the right products completely customized to YOU!

From daily and weekly skincare routines, to treatments at Bare Ur Beauty, facials, specialty treatments and more, here are the basics to help you discover and create your perfect skincare routine!

Daily Skin Care

Your daily skincare routine is key to maintaining the overall health of your skin. Many opt to participate in skin care in the morning and evening, but the frequency may vary depending on the guidance of your aesthetician.

Your aesthetician will recommend which products to use and how often. Your morning and night routine consistency is where you’ll begin to see biggest changes in skin!

Cleansing

  • The first step is cleansing your skin. This is key to removing oil , sweat and debris from the day.

  • To cleanse your face, you will need to find a gentle face wash or cleanser. It must be gentle enough that it won’t strip your skin of the natural acid mantle and also appropriate for the season.

  • For more oily skin types, we love the SkinBetter Oxygen Infusion Wash, Envions Gel Cleanser or DMK Deep Pore Pure

  • For dry skin, we love Environs Cleansing Lotion or DMK Milky Clean and Pure

  • We also recommend double cleansing at night, especially when wearing makeup.

  • Our favourite first cleanse is Environ Pre Cleansing oil.

Toning

  • To balance your skin, you will need to use a quality toner.

  • This is where you remove any debris that may have been missed when cleansing, while also improving the tightness and appearance of your pores.

  • We love Environ Moisturizing Toner and Environ SebuTone (oily or acne prone)

Serums

  • Targeted serums feed the skin and should be held in high importance

  • Vitamin C Serum boosts collagen production, antioxidant protection, and more

  • Beta Gel is ideal for both healing hydrating your skin

  • Even Tone helps to correct pigment

Moisturizing

  • Moisturizers hydrate the surface layer of the skin. They can also help to seal in previous steps, lock in moisture and help against TEWL.

With any change to your daily skincare routine, we suggest that you allow about six weeks for your skin to adapt. Especially before deciding if you would like to stop using a certain product or method.

The exception to this would be if your skin is having an adverse or allergic reaction to a new product.

Weekly Skin Care

Once your daily skincare routine is set in place, it’s time to look at what can and should be done on a weekly basis. Your weekly skincare routine should focus on exfoliating your skin, de-clogging pores and ensuring that your daily routine is working as it should.

Exfoliate

  • If done too often, exfoliating can lead to red or dry skin, which is why we recommend doing this step 1-3 times a week, based on the recommendation from your aesthetician.

  • Exfoliating can help to remove layers of dead skin and other build-up on the surface, while also allowing products to work better

  • Exfoliating once a week can result in skin that feels and looks smoother, brighter and with un-clogged pores.

  • How you exfoliate can depend on the unique health and sensitivity of your skin. We generally recommend using a chemical exfoliant, warm water and a gentle cloth.

Purifying or Mud Mask

  • Does your skin have blocked or clogged pores? While we don’t suggest unclogging pores or extracting pimples and blackheads yourself, it is important to keep an eye out, so that you can schedule an appointment with your local medical spa!

  • What you can do to help minimize the appearance of pores and remove debris, is using a purifying mask or mud mask once a week!

  • DMK Hydrating Mask is recommended if skin is dry or dehydrated

Monthly Skin Care

Your monthly skincare regimen should focus on the health and appearance of your skin, so that you can make long-term decisions regarding care. This includes if a product should be added or removed from your routine, when you should schedule your next appointment with your local medical spa, and if an appointment with your physician or dermatologist is required.

Check Your Skin

  • Take some time to check the appearance and overall health of your skin.

  • This is a great opportunity to look for blemishes, skin tags, moles, wrinkles, and any other changes to your skin. Especially if they can be addressed with your medical aesthetician, physician or dermatologist.

Check Expiry Dates

  • We suggest reviewing your skincare products once a month, looking at expiry dates, overall condition and if anything needs to be replaced before you run out.

Contact Your Girl Gang at  Bare Ur Beauty!

  • Based on the monthly, in-depth check of your skin, you may want to book an appointment with your medical aesthetician. We suggest taking this time to get in touch with your preferred medical spa and ensure that you attend your treatments.

  • Monthly treatments are ideal no matter the skin concern.

Quarterly Skin Care

How often you visit your preferred medical spa can depend on a number of factors. This can include your budget, the type of treatment and how sensitive your skin is.

Specialty Treatments

  • For many, the treatments and services available at your local medical spa can help to improve the overall appearance and health of your skin.

  • How frequently you attend these appointments can depend on a number of factors, along with recommendations from your medical aesthetician.

  • As a general rule of thumb, we suggest having certain treatments or services performed on a quarterly basis. Although, you may attend these appointments more or less regularly, based on your individual needs!

  • Some treatments are only performed at certain times of year, so they may be your “quarterly” treatments.

  • Some treatments and services that you may benefit from can include: facials, chemical peels, laser services, microneedling, fillers, and anti-wrinkle injections, among others!
